The Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources has started work to inspect the Arab gas pipeline which will transfer Egyptian gas to Lebanon through Syria.
In a statement, the ministry said that a joint Syrian-Lebanese technical team on Monday started inspecting the Arab gas pipeline in the Lebanese side.
Inspection works began from Al-Dabbousiyeh gas station on the Syrian-Lebanese borders and continued towards Deir Ammar station in Lebanon, the ministry added.
The team is expected to complete its work by tomorrow and issue its report which assures that the pipeline is technically ready for work, according to the ministry.
During a meeting held in Amman on September 8th, the Ministers of Oil and Energy of Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon agreed on a road map to supply Lebanon with Egyptian gas.
Earlier, during recent talks in Damascus, Syria had welcomed a Lebanese request to transfer Egyptian gas and Jordanian electricity to Lebanon through the Syrian territories.
