DAMASCUS, (ST)-Joint Syrian-Iranian efforts to fight takfiri terrorist organizations in addition to the latest developments at the regional and international arenas and bilateral ties were the main topics discussed during the meeting on Wednesday between Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem and the Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security at the Iranian Shoura Council Alaeddin Boroujerdi.
Talks also focused on the recent referendum held recently in northern Iraq region.
View points were identical on the need to enhance bilateral ties in all domains, including the parliamentary relations, to boost political coordination in the coming era and to continue the fight against terrorism.
The two sides affirmed their common stance which calls for preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq, warning against the negative impacts of the referendum in northern Iraq on stability in the region and on the war on terrorism.
Al-Moallem reviewed the latest field and political developments in Syria, hailing the major military victories achieved by the Syrian army and its allies and friends on terrorism; victories that led to some shifts in stances at the regional and international arenas.
He reiterated that Syria is pressing ahead with its war on terrorism until it is competely eliminated and expelled from the entire Syrian territory, expressing the Syrian government’s appreciation over all forms of support provided by the Islamic Republic of Iran to the country.
On his part, Boroujerdi asserted the importance of consolidating the Syrian-Iranian parliamentary ties, reiterating his country’s firm support for Syria in the battle against terrorism and its supporters until peace and security return to the country.
