Joint Russian-Chinese statement: We support Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity

Moscow (ST): Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping have affirmed their countries’ support for Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

In a joint statement published by the Kremlin after their summit today, the two presidents said: Russia and China support Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and the two countries are keen to contribute to strengthening a comprehensive political settlement process organized and implemented by the Syrians themselves.

Concerning Russian-Chinese relations, the statement indicated that the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation have reached the highest level in its history, and continue to develop gradually, and it is entering a new era thanks to the continuous efforts of the two countries.

The statement indicated that the relations between Russia and China, although they are not a military-political alliance similar to the alliances established during the Cold War, are superior to this form of interaction between countries, in that they are not of a bloc and confrontational nature, and are not directed against others.

The statement pointed out that the relations between the two countries are mature, stable, self-sufficient and strong, and have withstood the turbulent international situation, are not subject to external influence, and show vitality and positive energy, stressing that the friendship between the two countries and peoples is transmitted from generation to another, and they have a strong foundation of comprehensive cooperation.

The statement indicated that Russia is interested in a stable and prosperous China, and China is also interested in a strong and successful Russia, and that the Russian side attaches great importance to, and will study with interest the Chinese side’s global civilization initiative.

In their statement, the two countries expressed great concern about the biological military activities of the United States, including outside American territory, and asked them for clarifications about them, stressing the absence of what is called (higher democracy) and calling for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to respect the sovereignty and interests of other countries.
