Latakia (ST): Syria’s space science team held at dawn today a joint remote workshop with the ambassadors of the International Space Station “ESS”, at the Martyr Basil Al-Assad Center for Educational Training in Lattakia, with the aim of having dialogue with the station’s scientists about the world of space and its peculiarities.
The coach of the Syrian national team for physics, astronomy and space sciences, Basel Sultan, told news reporter that the importance of the workshop lies in the students’ experience far from the norm, and in direct dialogue with space science specialists within the International Space Station, and encouraging students to learn remotely, and pay attention to the English language, pointing out that the experience allowed the students to enter the international scientific theater.
Sultan added: The meeting included an explanation of the Pocket Lab sensor device, which is used in physical experiments, such as measuring gravity and the speed of light and displaying the experiments conducted on Earth and in space.
Hana Raslan, the supervisor of the Chemistry Department at the Center for Applied Physics and Basic Sciences, explained that the students had a unique experience, which allowed them to have a direct and interactive meeting with astronauts and supervisors from the International Space Station, through which they gained a lot of useful information.She commented on the good questions asked by the students, which reveal the extent of their interest, awareness and ability to engage in this field.
