Joint Press Conference between Erdogan ,Al Shara’a

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğa during a press conference with President Ahmad Al-Sharaa in Ankara: I welcome Al-Sharaa and I am happy to host him in Ankara. Everyone knows that the Syrian people have suffered for 13 years from injustice, barrel bombs, and genocide at the hands of the criminal Assad regime, which has led to the martyrdom of tens of thousands of Syrians.

Erdoğan: The Syrian people have become free to shape their future, and we stood by them in difficult times and will continue to stand by them.

Erdoğan: We discussed with President Al-Sharaa bilateral relations and ways to develop them, and we affirm the sovereignty and unity of Syrian territory.

Erdoğan: The upcoming period will witness an increase in visits and meetings with the Syrian side, and we will elevate relations to a strategic level.

Erdoğan: Western sanctions on Syria are an obstacle to its revival, and we are ready to support Syria in this new phase.

President Al-Shara’a: I would like to thank President Erdoğan, and the Syrian people will not forget what Turkey has provided to Syria over the past years.

President Al-Shara’a: Today, there are distinguished fraternal relations between the two countries, and we emphasize the need to transform them into a deep strategic partnership in all fields.

President Al-Shara’a: We discussed the necessity of Israel’s withdrawal from the territories it recently entered, in accordance with the 1974 disengagement agreement.

President Al-Shara’a: The relationship between Syria and Turkey is rooted in history and geography, and we invite President Erdoğan to visit Syria at the earliest opportunity.
