Democrat Joe Biden has been chosen as the 46th President of the United States after defeating his Republican rival Donald Trump in several key states, according to US media outlets.
The CNN, NBC News and CBS News networks announced that the results of the ballot were decided in favor of Biden after he collected 273 of the electoral votes following his victory in Pennsylvania.
Biden needed 270 votes to secure victory for the presidency.
