Jihan Hajja first solo Exhibition opened at the National Center for Visual Arts

Artist Jihan Hajja held her first solo art exhibition at the National Center for Visual Arts in Damascus

Hajjah displayed 23 artistic works based on one theme in her paintings, which is the tree, because she sees the tree as a symbol of life so she draws it in many expressive ways.

“I chose the tree because it represents the  female in all  the seasons. Tree in my paintings depicts what is in my mind and inner feelings,” Artist Jihan Hajja told Syria times.

“The tree, for me, is a symbol of giving, and life at the same time. It is  most beautiful in all its seasons. The tree resists the wind and can defy death while standing.”. Jihan said:

In her paintings, artist Jihan used different techniques including  harmony between the colors black and white, engraving on stone , engraving on metal, engraving on a silk screen , engraving on woodblock printing, and engraving prints with acrylic colors.

“Color is an essential element in the painting because it is a symbol of aesthetic value to the painting, so  I use blue, green, turquoise beside the white and black” she added.

Jihan paints in a contemporary and modern way, and with a deep feeling that makes her paintings private and unique. Artist Jihan Hajjah is a Doctor at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus.  She  participated in many collective exhibition inside Syria and this is her first solo exhibition

Dr. Ghiath Al-Akhras , Director of the National Center for Visual Arts said artist Jihan  painted the same tree element in multiple forms. Her drawings reflect the ability to imagine multiple themes for one element
