“Jerusalem, Position, History and Future”

Marking the Golden Jubilee of the foundation anniversary of the Arab Writers’ Union, a symposium was held under the title of Jerusalem, Position, History and Future” at the headquarters of the Arab Writers’ Union in Damascus.

Head of the Arab Writers’ Union Malek Saqour saqour said that Palestine in general, and Jerusalem in particular , live in the hearts and minds of the Syrian and Arab people, calling for strengthening the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in confrontation of the Israeli occupation.

The participants reviewed the aggressive measures taken against Jerusalem, especially under Trump administration which took a series of notorious decisions against Jerusalem and Golan. They affirmed that these decisions are null and void, and they will intensify resistance acts against occupation.

 The interventions made also focused on the racist policy pursued by the occupation authorities against the Palestinian culture and existence through the Judaization policy which aims to obliterate the genuine Arab features of the Palestinian culture and heritage.

Speakers also affirmed that there is a national connection between Jerusalem and Damascus, pointing out that the global conspiracy which targeted Syria over that last nine years was also a conspiracy against the Palestinians and their just cause as Syria is the centre of the resistance against Israeli occupation.
