In cooperation with the Embassy of the Syrian Arab Republic in Tokyo, a Japanese cultural institution launched a platform that represents a virtual trip to Syria for its visitors.
The Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy in Tokyo, Muhammad Naguib Elji, said that with the aim of enhancing cultural exchange between the two countries, the virtual trip was launched, and it represents the first stage of the cooperation project with the Japanese institution.
He added: The importance of this step is that it is part of the embassy’s action plan to introduce the Japanese to the authentic Syrian culture, which has had important exchanges with Japan throughout history.
He noted that there are many examples of the influence of Syrian civilization in Japan, such as brocade (damask) and mosaics.
The platform, which was published in English and Japanese, presented many cultural topics, the most important of which was an explanation of Syria’s location and climate, and the best times to visit it.
The platform provided information about the city of Damascus and its archaeological sites, and introduced the Japanese to the archaeological sites registered on the World Heritage List.
The trip introduced the Japanese to the Syrian people and described them as friendly and polite people, and that despite the difficulties that the people are experiencing as a result of Western economic measures.
The platform highlighted delicious Syrian cooking and sweets, and presented several examples of them.
It also provided an explanation of some traditional industries, such as the craft of wood inlaying that reached Japan since the days of the Silk Road, and the manufacture of Aleppo soap.
