Jabhat al-Nusra terrorists continue to commit crimes against civilians in Syria’s Idleb: UNCHR

UN Commission on Human Rights (UNCHR) has stressed that terrorist groups in Idleb continue to commit grave violations as well as crimes of kidnapping and killing against civilians.

The UNCHR Spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani said on Friday that the Commission has received worrying reports about civilians, including workers in the humanitarian field, taken as captives in the areas controlled by the so-called Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization) and other armed groups in Idleb.

The Commission also knew that some of the captives were executed after trials held by these illegal groups over links to rival groups or other takfiri charges, Shamdasani said.

She pointed out that the International Humanitarian Law bans executions without issuing judicial rulings that ensure necessary guarantees, reiterating that such executions amount to war crimes.

She affirmed that the terror groups also  continue to impose certain laws that violate basic human rights including the rights in life, freedom, personal security, movement and speech.
