Jaafari:Turkish side has a commitment to remove the terrorist organizations from Idlib and implement the Sochi agreement

Nur-Sultan-The head of the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic to the talks of Astana, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, said that the final statement of the 12th round of the Astana talks included positive points, some of which come for the first time, especially the total rejection of the conferees in Astana of the American administration’s decision on the occupied Syrian Golan.

Mr. Al-Jaafari told a news conference that the agenda of the 12thround was rich and focused on combatting terrorism even among those who had denied for years the existence of terrorism in Syria.

“There is terrorism in Idlib, which is recognized by all, including the delegation of the Turkish regime to the meetings of Astana, which necessitates full eradication, stressing that the Turkish side has a commitment to remove the terrorist organizations from Idlib and implementation of the Sochi agreement,” Mr. Jaafari added.

He pointed out that all unilateral and coercive economic measures by the United States and the European Union against Syria are illegal because they were not issued by a resolution of the UN Security Council. These measures are economic terrorism in addition to the political terrorism carried out by these countries.

“The dilemma in the Astana talks is the lack of seriousness of the Turkish side in the implementation of its commitments, noting that the presence of any troops on Syrian territory without the request of the Syrian government is illegal and must leave immediately,” Mr. Jaafari stressed.

“Turkey has occupied some 6,000 square kilometers of Syrian territory despite its claim to preserve the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Syria. The Turkish regime has introduced dozens of rocket launchers to terrorist organizations in Idlib and toxic materials for use against civilians and accuses the Syrian Arab Army,” Mr. Jaafari said.

He confirmed that Syria will not allow anyone to work to divide it and this is a red line, pointing out that the United States continues to hold thousands of Syrian refugees in Al-Rukban camp. The United Nations reiterated that most of them want to return to their homes.
