Jaafari : Syria is making Great Efforts to Protect Children.. Terrorist Groups Recruited, Exploited them

NEWYORK,(ST)_  In a speech before the UN Security Council today about children in time of war and conflicts, Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Dr. Bashar Jaafari, stressed that the Syrian government is committed to international treaties conventions on children’s rights and had ratified them early, pointing out that terrorist groups have recruited children, exploited them and committed massacres against them.

Jaafari said that the Syrian government is continuing its gigantic efforts, on the ground of commitment to its obligations to protect children and is providing documents confirming terrorist groups committed crimes against children, noting that t according to the Syrian law, recruitment of children is criminalized up to the death penalty.

Jaafari indicated that Syria confirms firmness in addressing any form of human rights violations and continues to cooperate with the UN and partner regional and international organizations to show the reality of the situation in Syria, away from politicization and manipulation of the public opinion and agitation in order to put an end to all forms of violence against children in situations of armed conflict.
