NEW YORK, (ST) _ Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari has demanded UN Security Council to condemn governments of countries supporting terrorism and forcing them to respect its relevant resolutions, especially the fight against terrorism.
In a statement he delivered yesterday before the UN Security Council on threats against international peace and security caused by terrorist acts and border crossing crime”, Jaafari indicated that terrorist acts explain the nature of the obscurantist ideology pursued by terrorist organizations linked to al-Qaeda, calling on UN member states and sides concerned to intensify its efforts and increase international and regional cooperation to combat terrorism.
Jaafari indicated that Syria has repeatedly conveyed to the UN Security Council what the terrorist organizations, especially “Daesh” and “al-Nusra front ” of extraction work and trafficking the Syrian and Iraqi national oil, stealing antiquities, dismantling of hundreds of factories and transporting them to Turkey, kidnapping and taking as captives and sale of women and children into slavery, explaining that three permanent members of the UN Security Council prevented over the years taking any process to address the phenomenon of terrorism sweeping Syria, the Middle East and the world.
Jaafari pointed out that the European Union permitted in April 2013 the purchase of Syrian oil, which it called ” areas controlled by the opposition” in flagrant violation of international law, pointing the EU recent action in preventing the Syrian Civil Aviation from necessary fuel, in an irresponsible and illegal behavior that violates the international Civil Aviation Organization decisions.
Jaafari also pointed out that the EU did not work to detect Syrian antiquities smuggled to Europe, noting what the former deputy director of the European police “Europol” and leader of the Belgian Federal Police reported the British “ The Times” newspaper, several days ago that antiquity dealers in the West are in direct contacts with “Daesh “after they had earlier used intermediaries to buy looted antiquities and art work from the Middle East.
Jaafari noted several reports issued by the UN itself, including the report of the Expert Group on Libya, which provided evidence confirming the involvement of many countries, especially Turkey in transport terrorists and weapons from Libya to Syria, Egypt and the Sahel region.
Jaafari renewed the Syrian delegation call on the UN Security Council to condemn the governments of countries supporting terrorism, forcing them to stop their destructive practices and hold them accountable to respect the relevant Security Council resolutions, in especially resolutions on counter-terrorism nos. 1267, 1373, 1540, 1624,1989, 2133, 2170 and 2178, adopted by the UNSC under Chapter VII to abide governments sponsoring terrorism in Syria, particularly Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia them.
Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, added that the Syrian delegation handed over the analytical team in support of the committee on UN 1267 resolution, a List of names of recent foreign deaths in Syria including 110 Chechens, Caucasus, and Dagestani.
