NEWYORK,(ST)_ Syria’s permanent representative to the UN Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari stressed that principles of the late former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela will be always victorious , calling to celebrate his life and be part of his humanism that can create a world that maintains peace and security.
Jaafari added in a statement during a special session yesterday at the UN in honor of the late President Mandela on behalf of the Asian and Pacific group, in his capacity as its president for the current month , that Mandela who formed a national and global phenomenon , had been insisting to prove to the world that we should not have to live with injustice , recalling what he had stated: “They described me as terrorist yesterday , but when I came out of prison lot of people feted me , including my enemies, and this is what I usually say to people who say one who confronts in order to liberate his own country is a terrorist .”
Jaafari continued that Mandela ‘s life is much like the UN Charter. A life he had spent in standing against injustice , advocating peace and non-violence and encourage development and education and fight in defense of the many other noble issues, explaining that Mandela spent 27 years of his life in prison to achieve equality of all citizens in his country and abroad.
He went on that Mandela spent his life building bridges between nations and to convey to all of us that we share the same good human nature and that the concepts of East and West do not make sense, when we look at what man represents regardless of his affiliation, quoting Mandela saying .. ” My ideas were impressed by the West and East alike.”
He pointed out that Mandela tried to show what man can do when he believes in the good inside him that which he could offer to his people and to the world , when stressing the need to get rid of the apartheid regime and not to let it control the joint efforts of countries made for the good of humanity ,as a whole.
“Let ‘s forget the bitterness and hostility between us , embrace human love , and construction work for the sake of humanity and follow Mandela steps, who said: ” When I get out of prison to freedom, I knew full well that if I did not leave my bitterness and hatred behind me, I was not freed from prison.” Jaafari concluded.
