Tehran-The head of the Italian parliamentary delegation to Iran, Pier Ferdinando Casini said on Saturday that his country backs Iran’s participation in talks to put an end to regional crises, including Geneva 2 Conference on Syria, according to IRNA.
Casini, chairman of the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, made the remarks in a meeting with head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi.
The Italian senator termed Iran as a very influential country in the region, calling for further expansion of political, economic and cultural ties between Tehran and Rome.
Casini reiterated that Italy believes that Iran is entitled to use nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
On the crisis in Syria, Casini said that peace talks is the only way out of the current situation in the country.
