Italy approves urgent humanitarian aid to Syria worth 4.5 million euros

Italy has approved urgent humanitarian aid for Syria worth 4.5 million euros as part of humanitarian efforts directed towards Syria.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Within the framework of the humanitarian aid announced by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani during his visit to Damascus on January 10, 4.5 million euros have been allocated for urgent relief initiatives.

The ministry clarified that this aid will be directed to the most urgent and priority areas in Syria, with the aim of supporting humanitarian activities in the health sector and hospitals, improving vital infrastructure including health infrastructure, water and food supply chains, and supporting the most vulnerable groups among the population.

The ministry indicated that this initiative comes following an initial humanitarian shipment of medicines and medical supplies that departed from the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot in the Italian city of Brindisi at the end of last January, and which included medicines and medical supplies and it is currently being distributed.
