Italy allocates 68 million euros in aid to Syria

Italy has allocated approximately €68 million to finance humanitarian projects and rebuild and rehabilitate infrastructure in Syria.

Reuters reported that Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, during a parliamentary hearing today, informed lawmakers that approximately 68 million euros had been allocated for Syria, explaining that “an initial package has been allocated for humanitarian initiatives in the hospitals, health, and infrastructure sectors, and to strengthen food supply chains.”

“This is crucial to supporting the transitional process in Damascus,” Tajani added, noting that his country intends to organize a business forum aimed at rebuilding Syria and that it will launch new cooperation projects in the coming weeks.

European Union countries pledged €5.8 billion to aid Syria during the ninth Brussels donor conference on Syria, held on the 17th of this month.
