Italian politician: US raid near Baghdad Airport is cowardly, dangerous and stupid

ROME, (ST)- Member of the Italian Parliament Alessandro Di Battista has described the American airstrikes which hit the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport Friday at dawn as “cowardly and stupid”.

The US raid, which was ordered by US President Donald Trump, led to the martyrdom of General Qassem Soleimani, the commander of Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Deputy Commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU).

Italian News Agency (Aki) quoted the Italian leader in the “Five Star Movement” as saying on his facebook that “the American raid is dangerous and stupid because the Middle East is akin to a barrel of explosive”.

He called on the Italian government to work for dialogue with Iran that “never posed a threat for our country on the contrary, before sanctions, imposed on Europe by Washington, Iran was a fundamental country for our economy and for our businesses.”
