Damascus (ST): Solidarity with Syria in the face of terrorism and the suffering of the Syrian people as a result of the repercussions of the devastating earthquake and the fight against the unjust economic blockade imposed by the West, are the most prominent things confirmed by the Italian delegation today during the dialogue seminar organized by the central leadership of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, within the Baath Forum for Dialogue, at the Al-Assad National Library in Damascus.
The delegation, which included representatives of the European Front for the Defense of Syria, the Italian “Casa Pound” party and the head of the Syrian community in Italy, Dr. Jamal Abu Abbas, focused on the history of the party and the front and the importance of their standing by the Syrian people.
The symposium included pictures of solidarity marches and slogans that were raised in several European cities throughout the years of the war, which emphasized Syria’s defense of all peoples in its fight against terrorism.
The head of the Italian delegation and the “Casa Pound” party, Jean Luca Iannone, affirmed that Syria represents the land of human civilizations and the cradle of heavenly religions, pointing to the need to stand by the people and leadership of Syria and to support it in defense of its sovereignty and independence and in rejection of all forms of conspiracy against it.
In turn, the deputy head of the party, Andrea Antonini, stressed the importance of rapprochement and friendship between peoples in general, and the Syrian and Italian peoples in particular, despite all attempts by international policies to influence peoples’ thinking, and the commitment to convey the true picture of the current events in Syria to Europe and to refute misleading scenes and fabricated rumor. He pointed out that the Syrian people faced the fiercest war in the current era, and were able to win it and preserve their identity and belonging.
The head of the European Front for the Defense of Syria and the party’s foreign relations official, Giovanni Viola, underlined the importance of Syria’s return to its normal position in the Arab League and restoring its relations, which should be within the framework of its support, explaining that the European Front was born to support the Syrians and stand with them, and this was demonstrated through activities and events and the conferences held by the Front, in addition to communicating with many organizations in approximately 15 European countries to convey the correct image of Syria.
For his part, the head of the Syrian community in Italy, Dr. Jamal Abu Abbas, explained in a statement that the delegation’s visit is an affirmation of standing with Syria despite the challenges that the movement and the party faced in Italy, to prevent campaigns or marches in solidarity with Syria, stressing that the task assigned to the delegation during its visit is to see and know the basic needs of the Syrians in order to try to provide the required assistance in this field.
