Israeli occupation detains 11 Palestinians, injures 5 others amid condemnation of Israel’s decision to allow ‘silent’ Jewish prayer at Jerusalem

OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, (ST)_Israeli occupation forces on Thursday detained at least 11 Palestinians from various parts of the West Bank, according to local and security sources.

They said that Israeli forces rounded up a Palestinian after storming his house in Tell town, southwest of Nablus city.

In Jenin district, Israeli forces re-arrested a former prisoner, who works as a teacher, after breaking into and searching his house in Zububa village, northwest of the city.

Still in Jenin district, soldiers raided the family house of Ayham Kamamji in Kufr Dan village, west of the city, interrogated and threatened to re-arrest his formerly detained brothers, and ransacked the house, turning it topsy-turvy.

Kamamji is one of the six Palestinians who managed to escape from the highly fortified Gilboa Prison in early September through a tunnel in what was described as the most dramatic and unprecedented prison break and were recaptured by the Israeli military later on.

In Tubas district, Israeli military vehicles stormed al-Fara refugee camp, south of the city, where soldiers detained three others, including a Fatah activist and his son.

During confrontations, the soldiers opened fire towards palestibnians who attempted to block their passage. No injuries were reported though.

In Jerusalem, the Israeli occupation forces stormed Isawiyyeh neighborhood and detained two others.

The occupation also detained prominent activist and community leader Mohammad Abu Hummus from the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
In Bethlehem district, Israeli soldiers barged their way into al-Azzeh and Aida refugee camps, north of the city, where they rounded up three others, including a father and his son.

Moreover, five Palestinians were today injured as they were confronting the pillage of their land in the village of al-Lubban al-Sharqiya, south of Nablus, according to local sources, according to WAFA news agency.

The agency added that for the second consecutive day, Israeli bulldozers continue razing Palestinian land in al-Sawiya village, south of Nablus, local sources confirmed.

Ghassan Daghlas, who monitors colonial settlement activities in the northern West Bank, said that the Israeli bulldozers have been razing a large tract of land belonging to the villagers of al-Sawiya along all the way to the lands of the nearby town of Yasuf.

Furthermore, Palestinian Premier Muhammad Shtayyeh yesterday condemned Israel’s decision to allow ‘silent’ Jewish prayer at Jerusalem’s flashpoint Al-Aqsa Mosque compound.

Shtayyeh warned against Israel’s attempts to impose new fait accompli at the mosque compound while calling on the US administration to fulfill its pledges to maintain the “status quo” in force at the holy site and not to allow any change in it.

In this context, the Palestinian National Council affirmed that the Israeli settlers’ daily storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque violates international law, calling on the international community to stop it.
