Israeli occupation detained 690 Palestinians in May 2022

OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, Jun.8, (ST)- The Palestinian prisoners’ institutions said that the Israeli occupation detained 690 Palestinians during the month of May, including 76 minors and 19 women.

The institutions clarified in a report released on Wednesday that most of detainees were from occupied East Jerusalem, which was the highest number of detentions this year after April where 1228 Palestinians were detained.

The report indicated that the past month witnessed a significant escalation of the occupation’s violations and crimes against the Palestinians, including field executions, house demolitions, collective punishment, and more arrests, which coincided with violations against the prisoners and their families.

“ The number of prisoners in the occupation’s detention centers reached about 4,700 until the end of last month including 32 women and about 170 children and boys,” the report added.

Repeatedly, The Palestinian Foreign Ministry and the prisoners’ institutions call on the international community and international humanitarian institutions to take urgent action to stop the crimes of the Israeli occupation against the prisoners and hold those responsible to account.
