The Islamic inter-parliamentary union troika has called for supporting Palestinian resistance by all means to confront the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
In the final statement released yesterday, the union also appealed for lifting the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip and asked the international community to fulfill its role in halting the aggression and trying perpetrators of Israeli war crimes before the International Criminal Court.
The statement was released after a meeting held on Tuesday in Tehran to debate situation in Palestine and the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
The meeting rejected equality between the victim and the executioner, calling for massive participation in the international Day of al-Quds that falls on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan in support of the Palestinian people.
State terrorism
It underscored that the Zionist entity’s aggression on the Gaza Strip represents a definitive evidence of genocide and purposed destruction of infrastructure whereas hundreds of armless Palestinian women and children were killed and thousands were wounded.
” Thousands of houses, mosques, schools and hospitals were razed and resident in Gaza are running out of food. This demands strong denouncement,” the meeting’s statement read.
It censured the state terrorism being practiced by Israel. ” The International Parliamentary Union must seriously work for releasing all Palestinian detainees , including the members of the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC). “
“The air, ground and sea military aggression on the Palestinians, Judaization, settlement and administrative detention are blatant breach of the international law and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions,” the statement said.
It added that the siege imposed on the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip, violates human rights.
The Union called for lifting the siege and opening all land crossings, including Rafah crossing and Gaza airport. It appealed to the Egyptian government to facilitate humanitarian aid into Gaza through Rafah crossing.
Palestinian reconciliation
The participants in the union’s meeting welcomed the Palestinian national reconciliation, asserting that unity of the Palestinian people is he only guarantee for liberating Palestine and establishing a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
On the other hand, the union formed a delegation to visit several countries and parliamentary unions to mobilize support for the Palestinian cause.
Syria’s Speaker of the Peoples’ Assembly [Parliament], Mohammad Jehad al-Lahham took part in the union’s meeting and give a speech during which he stressed terrorists operating in Syria and Iraq are supported by the same countries that support Israel’s aggression on Gaza.
