ISIL dead bodies lying outside Tabqa airbase in Raqqa

Dozens of dead bodies of ISIL-linked terrorists can be seen lying on the outskirts of Tabqa airbase in northeastern Raqqa province, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency made clear that the terrorists affiliated to the so-called the ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ ISIL  (the former name of IS) were killed during attacks on the airbase over the past few days.

It quoted a field commander as saying that Tabqa airbase is ‘safe’ and the airbase’s forces are guarding it and attack the ISIL sites outside the airbase.

“The army units recaptured Ajil town near the airbase and inflicted heavy losses upon terrorists in Tabqa. They seized big quantity of weapons for the ISIL terrorists,” the commander added.

Daily attacks

Another field commander declared that the army units thwarted last Thursday an infiltration attempt by armed terrorist groups into the airbase .”Two armored car bombs were used in the infiltration attempt”.

Over the last year and a half, there were daily attacks on the airbase, but all of them were foiled by the army units.

The army units used warplane and artilleries after the ISIL terrorists have escalated their attacks on the airbase, the agency said.

The airbase will remain a thorn in the throat of the terrorists, the commander confirmed.
