Occupied Al-Quds, (ST) – The Israeli occupation forces stormed into the Rafah crossing in the southern Gaza Strip, closed it completely, and stopped the movement of passengers and the entry of aid into the Strip, which threatens to exacerbate the humanitarian catastrophe.
Wafa News Agency reported that the occupation tanks and vehicles stormed into the crossing at dawn today, amid heavy shelling and fire at its buildings, and occupied it completely, preventing the movement of travelers, most of whom were sick and wounded. They also prevented the entry of humanitarian aid or the transfer of accumulated aid to the people of Gaza Strip in the southern and northern regions, which portends famine and a real danger to the lives of the people in Gaza, especially the sick and wounded, in the light of the collapse of the health system.
20 Palestinians were martyred and dozens were injured as a result of the occupation bombing of homes in the Al-Jeneina neighborhood, east of the city of Rafah, the Al-Hams neighborhood in its center, and Tal Al-Sultan, in its west, while missile and artillery shelling and gunfire from the occupation marches on the eastern areas of Rafah continue in an intense and violent manner.
The Palestinian Red Crescent warned that the occupation’s invasion of the city of Rafah threatens the lives of thousands and exacerbates the dilapidated health and medical situation, indicating that there is no safe place in Gaza large enough to accommodate one and a half million Palestinians in Rafah. It indicated that the greatest fear now is that the occupation prevents ambulances from reaching patients and the injured.
The Rafah land crossing is considered the lifeline of Gaza Strip and the only outlet for bringing in aid and evacuating the injured.
The occupation’s incursion into the city and tightening its control over it means depriving the Palestinians in Gaza from food and medical aid and sentence them to death.
The occupation also continues to close the Kerem Shalom crossing in Gaza Strip for the fourth day in a row.
Yesterday, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the number of victims of the ongoing occupation aggression on Gaza Strip for the 214th day had risen to 34,735 martyrs and 78,108 wounded.
