Israel, backed by the United States, plans to build 4,000 new settlement units in West Bank

Occupied Al-Quds – The United States continues to support and provide protection to the Israeli occupation entity at the Security Council in order to guarantee that  Israel is not held accountability for the crimes it has been committing against the Palestinians and for its incessant violations of UN resolutions, foremost of which is the resolutions that stress the illegality of settlement building activities, call for halting them and reiterate the need to establish the independent Palestinian state on the June 4th 1967 line.

The Palestinian Liberation Organization’s (PLO) National Bureau for Defending the Land and Resisting Settlements, said in a report published on Saturday that the Israeli media outlets uncovered that the government of Benjamin Netanyahu has informed the US administration that it will build 4,000 new settlement units in the West Bank and that the Israeli government has get the green light to implement this plan. This US behavior contradicts the statements repeatedly made by US officials about their opposition of settlement expansion and about their concern over the unilateral Israeli measures, the Bureau clarified.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered that the establishment of thousands of new settlement units in the West Bank is a crime and a flagrant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.

The Bureau’s report indicated that the occupation also announced a plan to establish 1,703 new settlement units to expand two settlements in occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and to connect these two settlements to other settlements built in the north of Al-Quds by a settlement road.

According to the report, settlement expansion also continued in other West Bank cities.  Last week in Qalqilya city, the occupation authorities seized 70 dunums in the villages of Masha and Azoun Atma, which are located behind the Israeli racist segregation wall with the aim of establishing 192 new settlement units to expand a settlement already built there.
