BAGHDAD,(ST)_Leader of the terror Daesh organization [IS], Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was critically wounded in a US-led airstrike in the city of Al-Qaim, on the Syria-Iraq border, according to news agencies.
The agencies added that Anbar Wali [magistrate] Abo Mohannad al-Swedawi and an official in charge of Euphrates prefecture, Abo Zahra’a al-Mohammadi were among the other Daesh leaders who were killed in the strike that targeted a gathering of Daesh leaders in Iraq’s western province of Anbar.
The US planes fired two missiles at a central area in the city of al-Qa’im, causing dozens of deaths and injuries.
The wounded were admitted to the local hospital, and the attack led to the blocking of all roads in the area.
Witnesses told Reuters the IS fighters had cleared a hospital so that their wounded could be treated.
Wave of blasts kill 23
On the other hand, the Beirut-based al-Mayadeen reported that a car bomb exploded in the’ 52’ Street west Baghdad where 8 civilians were martyred and 20 other wounded.
Another explosion hit al-Zafaraneyeh area south-east Baghdad, killing 3 civilians and wounding 20 others.
A third car bomb blast targeted a gathering of army and tribes in al-Kilo 35 area south-east Hit city which lies west al-Anbar. No information were reported about the casualties.
More 12 civilians were martyred and 22 others wounded an explosion in al-Sader city.
