IRGC General: Iran to Weather All Problems

TEHRAN– The lieutenant commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) gave an upbeat account of how Iran will overcome obstacles, saying the political and economic problems imposed by the enemies would turn into perfect opportunities for progress.

Speaking to reporters in the city of Damghan, 330 km east of Tehran, on Wednesday, Brigadier General Hossein Salami said the Islamic Republic has already raised to much more serious challenges in the past and turned threats into great opportunities to strengthen its defense power, political and regional influence, scientific growth and economic independence, Tasnim News reported.

Experience shows that steadfastness in standing against the enemies would turn pressures and threats into ideal opportunities for the Iranian nation, he added.

“Today, the situation is in favor of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and there is no reason for concern,” the commander said, stressing that all political developments in the region have contributed to the strengthening of Iran’s political power.

In comments last week, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said the US government’s power and influence in the entire world are at a low ebb and “the contemporary US is several times weaker than the US four decades ago.”

Despite all its attempts to re-conquer Iran over the past four decades, the US has not achieved any of its objectives, the Leader stressed, adding, “Today, the only country in whose decisions the US does not have any role is the Islamic Republic of Iran, and this means the US defeat.”

The purpose of the US economic war and sanctions against Iran over the past 40 years has been to cripple and stall the Islamic Republic, the Leader said, adding that what has happened in reality has been against the US will, as Iran has been moving towards self-sufficiency and domestic production has accelerated in the country.
