Iravani: Israel’s Repeated Attacks on Syrian Territory Have Reached an Unprecedented Level of Criminality

Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir Saeed Iravani stressed that the repeated Israeli attacks on the territory of Syria have reached an unprecedented level of criminality, clearly violating Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity as well as international law.

Iravani was quoted by IRNA News Agency as saying in a speech during the UN Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East and Syria: “the Israeli entity, in coordination with terrorist groups, pursues a systematic and targeted policy in its attacks trying to destroy the infrastructure in Syria.

“The continued airstrikes and acts of aggression against Syria have reached an unprecedented level, targeting civilians and critical infrastructure. These criminal acts clearly violate Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, international law and the Charter of the United Nations. “Iravani added.

He went on to say, “Unfortunately, the immunity of the Israeli entity continues because of the unconditional support of the United States. This was again reflected in yesterday’s US veto against the draft resolution proposed by the 10 non-permanent States of the Security Council for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. ”

Iravani pointed out that the UN reports during the session highlighted that the humanitarian needs in Syria are still enormous, as the years of foreign occupation, terrorism and unilateral sanctions have had devastating effects on the Syrian economy.

Iravani stressed Iran’s firm commitment to the Astana process, pointing out that the twenty-second meeting held on November 11 and 12 in Kazakhstan reaffirmed the firm commitment to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.

The Iranian delegate stressed the need to end the illegal presence of foreign forces, especially American forces, prevent the exploitation and theft of Syrian natural resources and end the ongoing support for terrorist groups by the United States and the Israeli entity.
