The Iraqi Security Media Cell announced that the Green Zone and its surroundings in the capital, Baghdad, were bombed by Katyusha rockets, prior to the parliament session dedicated to electing the president of the republic.
The cell stated today that “the Green Zone and its surroundings in the capital, Baghdad, were bombed with 9 Katyusha rockets, which resulted in the injury of a number of security personnel and citizens.”
In turn, the Public Service Council announced that its building was exposed to two mortar shells.
“The service council was subjected to two mortar shells, which fell in the garden of the building without causing any human casualties,” the Iraqi News Agency (INA) quoted the council’s spokesman, Wissam al-Lahibi, as saying in a statement.
