Iraqi Prime Minister: The world faces a new humanitarian disaster in Rafah

Baghdad, (ST) – Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani affirmed that the world today is facing a new humanitarian catastrophe in Rafah. He stressed the need to take a decisive international stance towards the ongoing Israeli aggression.

INA in a statement from the Media Office of the Prime Minister said: Al-Sudani received today the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, and indicated during the meeting that the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza is occurring because of the intransigence of the Israeli occupation and its insistence on killing more civilians.

The statement indicated that the suffering of the Palestinians will double with the targeting of Rafah, as they no longer have a safe place to seek refuge.

Al-Sudani affirmed the Iraqi government’s readiness to provide all support and assistance to UNRWA to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people. He stressed that targeting UNRWA headquarters in Gaza is part of the war of genocide committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinians.
