Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi affirmed today the commitment of the Iraqi army to its tasks in defending the country’s land, borders, and national sovereignty.

On the occasion of the Iraqi Army’s foundation day, Alsumaria News website quoted Abdul-Mahdi as saying in a statement: “On such a day, the Iraqi army was established to be a reliable bulwark in defending the territories, borders and national sovereignty of Iraq”, stressing that the current conditions in the country call for unity, giving priority to the supreme interests of Iraq, ensuring safety, security and stability, and preserving its national sovereignty.
