Iraqi prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi announced that he is going to head to the United Nations to end the existence of foreign forces on the Iraqi soil, stressing the necessity of preserving Iraq’s sovereignty according to Iraqi and international laws.
Addressing the Iraqi people, Abdul Mahdi said that preserving Iraq’s sovereignty completes the rights of the Iraqi people, referring to the necessity of developing Iraq’s capabilities to preserve the country’s security and sovereignty and to continue combatting terrorism and ISIS terrorist organization. He pointed out that achieving this goal requires ending the existence of any foreign troops on the Iraqi territories, demanding that international community and the UN to shoulder their responsibilities in this concern.
The Iraqi Premier referred to the killing crimes committed by foreign forces against defenseless Iraqi civilians, especially following the Anglo-American invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Abdul Mahdi referred to a package of reforms he will make in response to the demonstrators’ demands.
Earlier, Baghdad and other Iraqi cities witnessed several protests demanding for ensuring better services and economic opportunities.
