Secretary-General of the powerful Badr Organization Hadi al-Ameri stressed that Washington has never been serious about campaign against terrorism, while Iran has never left Iraq alone in these hard days of fight against ISIL.
Ameri lashed out at the US for failing to fulfill its earlier promises to provide Baghdad with military assistance in the fight against Takfiri terrorists, but praised Iran’s supports for the Iraqi security forces in anti-terror operations, adding that “help from Iran is unconditional“.
He stressed that receiving weaponry and military assistance from the US should not take place at the expense of sacrificing Iraq’s sovereignty, censuring those who “kiss the hands of the Americans and get nothing in return”.
“Our sovereignty is more important than US weapons… We can bring weapons from any country in the world,” Ameri stated.
In January, Iraqi Interior Minister Mohammed Salem al-Ghabban lauded the Iranian government and nation for their supports for his country, and said the Iraqi government and people will never forget Iran’s assistance to them.
He reiterated that Iran’s cooperation in Iraq’s ongoing fight against the Takfiri terrorists was crucial for his country.
Iran renews support for Iraq
On the other hand, Iranian President’s Special Adviser for Ethnic Minorities Ali Younesi reiterated that Tehran is aiding Baghdad in its fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) Takfiri terrorists, while fully respecting Iraq’s territorial integrity.
“Iran respects Iraq’s independence and territorial integrity,” the Arabic-language Al-Alam television quoted Younesi as saying.
He underlined that Iran provides Iraq with military advice to combat the ISIL terrorists.
Younesi said Iran has never been after adventurism, aggression or war, and said, “As our president said, we will defend with all might if necessary but have never been after adventurism.”
On Saturday, Younesi warned of the danger posed by the terrorist groups to the world, and underlined the country’s efforts and pioneering role in campaign against ISIL.
“The ISIL is considered as the biggest plight in the world today and Iran is playing a pioneering role in the forefront of this battle,” Younesi said.
He expressed regret that a number of extremist groups are committing crimes under the name of Islam which is a religion of kindness.
On Monday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian congratulated the Iraqi people, armed forces and government on their great victories against the terrorists in Tikrit, Salahuddin province, and stressed Tehran’s continued support for Baghdad.
“The fall of Tikrit gates from the pawns of terrorists is a prelude to the freedom of Mosul and the regions of Iraq from the hands of the Takfiri terrorists,” Amir Abdollahian told FNA.
Iran respecting Iraq’s territorial integrity
Meanwhile, Tehran’s Provisional Friday Prayers leader Ayatollah Seyed Ahmad Khatami reiterated that Iran backs Iraq in its campaign against the Takfiri terrorists, reminding that the Islamic Republic has always supported the territorial integrity of its neighboring countries.
Addressing a large and fervent congregation of people on Tehran University campus on Friday, Ayatollah Khatami said, “Iran supports Iraq’s territorial integrity.”
He underlined that Iran’s aids to Iraq are aimed at foiling the enemies’ plots hatched to disintegrate the Arab Muslim country.
Last month, Iraqi President FouadMassoumpraised Tehran’s unsparing assistance to Baghdad to defend the country against the ISIL terrorist group’s massive attacks as a much respectable move.
Massoum said that Iran, as a neighboring country which shares over one thousand kilometers of borders with Iraq, has helped Baghdad confront the criminal ISIL terrorists.
He further added that Iran had provided Baghdad security forces with military counseling even before rise of the ISIL in Iraq.
Massoum said his government appreciated the help.
