Iraq’s Political, Official Circles Condemn Turkey’s Support for ISIL

Different Iraqi political and official circles deplored Ankara’s support for the ISIL terrorist group, and underlined that the country’s secret plots will be revealed soon.

Based on a statement issued by the Iraqi interior ministry, Mohammed Salem Al-Ghabban, the country’s interior minister, said that Turkey has provided the ground for the trafficking of thousands of terrorists, part of whom are from the European countries, to Iraq and Syria, and called for the implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions in this regard.

Also, Iskandar Watout, a member of the Iraqi parliament’s Security and Defense Committee, warned that Ankara is hatching plots against Iraq, stressing that the plots will be revealed soon.

Khalid al-Siraj, an Iraqi political analyst, referred to Ankara’s double-standard approach in fighting the ISIL terrorist group, and said, “Turkey supports the ISIL indirectly in a way that it can escape international criticism but it cannot exonerate itself this way since there are lots of evidence showing its support and backup for the terrorist group.”

He said there are many documents which show continued trafficking of terrorists via the Turkish soil into Iraq and Syria and treatment of wounded ISIL members in Turkey, adding that also there are some reports saying that ISIL ringleader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been sheltered in Turkey.

Media reports disclosed last month that al-Baghdadi had been transferred to Turkey for treatment through a series of coordination measures by the CIA after the notorious terrorist leader was severely injured in the Iraqi army’s airstrike on his convoy in Western Anbar province.

“The CIA has drone coordination with the Turkish intelligence organization to transfer al-Baghdadi to Turkey,” the Arabic-language al-Manar TV quoted unnamed sources as saying.

The source said that two companions of al-Baghdadi who were also injured in the attack on the ISIL leader’s convoy and were captured by the Iraqi forces had confirmed that al-Baghdadi was injured in the attack.
