Iraq, Russia Reject Interference in Syrian Affairs

 BAGHDAD ,(ST)_ Iraq has stressed the importance of preserving peoples ‘ gains and not converting  the so-called  the move towards democracy to a sectarian conflict or a hotbed to produce extremists and terrorists.

A statement by the Iraqi Foreign Relations Committee issued on Sunday said that the committee ‘s  chairman Dr. Sheikh Hamoudi stressed during a meeting with the Russian  federation  delegation taking part  in the  IPU Conference , Iraq  ‘s stand against the use of violence and foreign interference in the affairs of countries reiterated Iraq’s rejection  of interference in Syrian  internal affairs.

He pointed to Iraq’s support for the aspirations of people for freedom, justice and democracy.

For his part, the Russian parliamentary delegation stressed  Russia  stand against interfering in the affairs of others and demanded  solving  crises in the region, particularly the crisis in Syria through internal consensus.

The Russian delegation expressed its country’s keenness to develop relations with Iraq.
