Iraq renews its demand for world community condemnation of Turkish attacks on its lands

Iraq renewed its call on the international community to condemn the repeated Turkish attacks on Iraq and stop them immediately; stressing that they constitute a threat to regional peace, sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity of Iraq.

Ahmed Al-Mulla Talal, a spokesman for the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, said in a statement to SANA that Iraq strongly rejects and condemns the repeated Turkish attacks against Iraqi lands and demands an immediate end to them because they threaten regional peace as well as constituting  an attack on the sovereignty, lives and  property of Iraq, indicating that the government of his country delivered to the Turkish ambassador in Baghdad two letters of official protest, strongly worded, during which it confirmed that it will resort within the framework of international law and charters confirming Iraq’s right to reject and stop these attacks .

 

The statement held the Turkish side responsible for the legal and moral responsibility of these attacks, calling on the international community to take steps that would enhance stability in the region and assign Iraq’s sovereign right to protect its lands and preserve the safety of its people.

Earlier today, Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf said that Iraq may resort to the UN Security Council to issue a resolution condemning the ongoing Turkish aggression on its lands.
