Iraq condemns repeated Zionist attacks on Syria, Lebanon and Iran

Iraq’s representative to the UN Security Council Abbas Kazem Obaid condemned the repeated Zionist attacks on Lebanon, Syria and Iran and the Zionist entity’s criminal behavior of using assassination methods.

“The attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestine, Lebanon and Syria have moved away from the claims of self-defense that “Israel” always promotes despite their legal invalidity, and have taken the path of revenge and genocide. This is what we are witnessing today in terms of attacks on the sovereignty of states and their territories under false pretexts in blatant defiance of the principles and values ​​of the United Nations and the resolutions of international legitimacy,” the Iraqi News Agency (INA) quoted Obaid as saying during a session of the UN Security Council yesterday.

He continued: “We express our strong condemnation of the repeated attacks on the territories of Syria, Lebanon and Iran, and we also condemn the criminal behavior represented by the use of assassination methods, and we demand that the Security Council assume its responsibilities and exercise its duties in maintaining international peace and security, stopping the war on Gaza Strip, saving the homes, opening the border crossings and delivering humanitarian aid, and that the Council be more decisive in deterring Israeli transgressions and violations that tamper with the stability of the region and the security of its peoples.”

He continued: “Iraq has previously warned, like the rest of the world, of the danger of escalation and expansion of the war and its repercussions on regional and international peace and security, which will increase the state of instability in the region, perpetuate the state of tension in it and push towards dangerous repercussions in the region that are difficult to control.”

He added:“What has been happening since November 7 is inseparable from the accumulations of occupation and usurpation of rights, and your Council and the United Nations, with its full membership, have not been able to find a radical and comprehensive solution to it after these years of conflict, bloodshed, violations, land theft and settlement construction.”

He stressed Iraq’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and to achieve their aspirations to end the occupation and establish their independent state on the land of Palestine.
