Iraq Calls for Regional Coordination to Eradicate Terrorism

BAGHDAD,(ST)_ The Iraqi government on Sunday called for  regional coordination to confront terrorism and extremism which threaten the region , in the wake of the bombings that killed  or wounded more than 150 people in Rihaniyya city at the Syrian-Turkish border.

A statement issued by the office of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, quoted by AFP said  “Such  crimes and widening of  terrorism circles  constitutes an additional incentive on the need for cooperation and coordination  of all countries, particularly countries in the region to root out terrorism and eradicate extremism and violence in all its forms.”

On Saturday, Two booby trapped cars  exploded in front of the municipality and post office headquarters  of  Rihaniyya city,  southern Turkey, killing at least 46 people and injured other one hundred  .

Relations between Iraq and the government of Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey  witnessed many tensions, due to  Erdogan ‘s blatant interference in the internal affairs of Iraq and the countries of the region .

In recent months,  Information Office of the Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, called on  Erdogan repeatedly to  “focus attention on addressing the internal situation of  his  country and not pushing Turkey in the problems of the region, “pointing out that such policy by Erdogan only  brings  troubles to Turkey and its people .
