Tehran – Iraqi president Fuad Masoum called for agreement between gas exporting countries to set price and said that the agreement will stabilize the world markets.
He made the remarks at the 3rd Summit of GECF leaders.
President Masoum said that determination of gas price in the world markets should be upon clear indicators, so that using natural gas finds priority in other states.
To develop regional cooperation among countries of the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea needs setting up new pipelines.
He hoped that considering geographical position of his country could be agenda of the cooperation in the region.
He said that his country intends to develop cooperation with neighboring states and has two joint gas projects with Kuwait and two projects with Iran as well as cooperationwith world big companies to make investment in this field.
Masoum said that Iraq calls for generating electricity from natural gas to protect environment.
The Iraqi official said that development of cooperation between gas exporting countries will lead to progress and development of nations and decrease poverty in the region.
The 3rd Summit meeting of GECF kicked off in Tehran on Monday in presence of nine heads of state.

On the other hand, a senior member of parliament Nasser Soudani on Monday underlined the need for promotion of bilateral relations between Iran and Iraq.
Soudani, the deputy head of Majlis Energy Commission, made the remarks in a meeting with a delegation of Iraqi media managers and university professors.
Referring to Iran’s achievements after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, he said, ‘Today, Iran has gained great achievements in different scientific, research, medicine and nuclear areas.’
Appreciating the resistance of Islamic Ummah to thwart the enemies’ threats, Soudani said that the Iranian government and nation will stand by the Iraqi nation and support them.
Meanwhile, the Iraqi delegation expressed satisfaction with their presence in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Underlining the key role of Iran in regional developments, the Iraqi delegation noted that Muslims should develop unity and solidarity in their fight against Takfiri terrorist groups.
