Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian on Saturday arrived at Damascus International Airport in an official visit to Syria during which he will hold talks with senior Syrian officials on regional and international developments as well as on issues of common interest.
Abdollahian was welcomed at the airport by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad.
Upon his arrival, Abdullahian made a statement to journalists, saying “my visit aims at holding further consultations with President Bashar Al-Assad and Minister Al-Mikdad on strengthening bilateral relations and at discussing regional and international developments.”
During a phone conversation last Sunday, Al-Mikdad and Abdollahian discussed the strategic relations between Syria and Iran as well as the current coordination at all levels to serve the interests of the two countries.
