Iran’s Education Minister stresses his country’s support for Syrian education sector to face earthquake repercussions
Damascus (ST): Iranian Minister of Education Youssef Nouri offered his condolences and sympathy over the earthquake victims, stressing that his country stands by Syria in its ordeal.
During a video interview with the Minister of Education Darem Tabaa, Nuri referred to the strong relations between Iran and Syria in various fields, especially education, stressing readiness to support the Syrian educational sector, especially in the affected governorates, whether through virtual education or through any other requirements.
Nuri pointed out that a number of Iranian aid planes were sent through the Red Crescent, and a fundraising campaign was launched by school students and administrations under the supervision of the Iranian Ministry of Education to help those affected by the earthquake.
In turn, Minister Tabbaa expressed his appreciation for the support provided by Iran and thanked the Iranian students and teachers for their assistance and donations, explaining that the statistics indicate that the victims of the earthquake, including teachers and students, amounted to 142 victims, and 139 schools were turned into shelters for affected families in Latakia, Aleppo and Hama, where there are more than 35 thousand citizens.
