Iranian President: We support Syria’s Efforts against Terrorism, Reject foreign Interference in its internal affairs

TEHRAN,(ST)_ Iranian President Hassan Rohani today renewed Iran’s support for the efforts undertaken by the Syrian leadership to combat terrorism and restore security and stability in Syria and continued support for the Syrian people’s steadfastness against the terrorist war

During his meeting with the Speaker of the Syrian Parliament Mohammed Jihad al-Lahham Rohani noted that the situation in Syria is proceeding towards the benefit of the Syrian people both at the war field and political levels, stressing his country’s support for a political solution in Syria and rejection of all forms of foreign interference in its internal affairs.

The Iranian president noted his country ‘s care to enhance the promotion of cooperation and consultation and joint action in order to achieve the aspirations of the peoples of Syria and Iran, pointing to Iran ‘s strong “anti-terrorism will in the region, for the establishment of its security and stability and  for solving problems of the Islamic world.”

For his part, Lahham stressed that Syria is exposed to systematic terrorism supported with money and weapons from regional and Western countries, warning that ” the effects of terrorism and extremism will reach the region and the world unless it is deterred firmly by all countries.”

” Dialogue among the Syrians themselves without external interference in parallel with the fight against terrorism is the only way to resolve the crisis in Syria,” Lahham emphasized, noting preparations carried out by the Syrian government for the reconstruction and rebuilding what was destroyed by the unjust war, particularly with the great progress and victories achieved by the Syrian Army on terrorism and terrorists.

He commended Iran ‘s leadership and government stances in support of Syria and the Islamic peoples and her role in the fight against terrorism, especially Iran ‘s initiative presented to the UN Council Security to fight terrorism.
