Iranian President: Sanctions on Iran and creating chaos in it are two sides of same coin

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi stressed that Western sanctions on Iran and attempts to create chaos in it are two sides of the same coin.

Raisi said in a television interview on Wednesday evening: “Those who have destabilized the security of society and harmed the lives and property of citizens in the riots and used the case of Mahsa Amini’s death as a pretext to strike the country’s security must be dealt with firmly, and handed over to justice, as well as those who incited them to do so.”

Raisi added, “Regardless of political views, the issue of Amini’s death should be clarified in a transparent manner because that would help set things right.TheIranian people know very well that enemies do not want them to prosper and seek to create insecurity.”

Raisi underlined the need to define the line between protest and riots, because opposition voices must be heard, and this helps improve citizens’ affairs, stressing that the red line for the Islamic Republic is the lives and property of citizens.

The Iranian president pointed out that a fair and good agreement can be reached in the Vienna negotiations if the Americans and Europeans fulfill their obligations, expressing his country’s readiness to reach a good agreement based on guarantees and the possibility of verifying commitments.

Raisi noted that Iran emphasized in its last text in the nuclear negotiations the need to obtain a credible guarantee of lifting sanctions, so that the Iranian people can enjoy the economic benefits of the agreement.
