Tehran (ST): During his meeting in Tehran on Tuesday with Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi underlined the importance of Syrian-Iranian relations and their development in various fields.
President Raisi praised the steadfastness of the Syrian leadership and people in the face of all the difficulties and conspiracies plotted against the country, pointing out that Syria is on the path of progress and prosperity, stressing the need for all illegal foreign forces to leave Syria and for the Syrian state to restore its sovereignty over all of its lands.
The Iranian president also underlined the importance of fully implementing the agreements reached during his visit to Syria and his meeting with President Bashar Al-Assad, expressing hope that subsequent steps would be taken to further develop relations between the two countries.
In turn, Minister Al-Mikdad conveyed President Al-Assad’s greetings to President Raisi and the Iranian leadership and reviewed the latest political developments in Syria and the region.
Al-Mikdad said: There is a real will by the Syrian and Iranian leaderships to realize more achievements for the benefit of our two countries and peoples.
Minister Al-Mikdad affirmed that the culture and ideology of resistance that unites Syria and Iran is the only way to defend our rights and confront foreign conspiracies and that security and stability are achieved by strengthening coordination between Syria and Iran away from foreign interference.
He also talked about the economic sanctions imposed on Syria and Iran, stressing that they contradict international humanitarian law and lead to disasters in the lives of peoples, especially children and women who are mainly targeted by these sanctions.
For his part, the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Samer Al-Khalil, head of the Syrian side in the Syrian-Iranian joint committee, gave an explanation on the talks that were held with the Iranian side, expressing his satisfaction with the results reached and the future prospects for economic cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, the Minister of Communications and Technology, Eng. Iyad Al-Khatib, referred to the existing areas of cooperation between the Syrian Ministry of Communications and its Iranian counterpart, and the efforts exerted to enhance this cooperation.
