Iranian politicians, academics, journalists: Presidential elections in Syria indicate the strong will of the Syrians to decide their own future
Iranian lawmakers, academics, journalists and political analysts have stressed that holding presidential elections in Syria on due time is a new victory for the Syrian people. It indicates the strength of the Syrian state’s institutions and proves Syria’s determination not to surrender to foreign dictates despite the heinous terrorist war imposed on it.
Member of the Iranian Shoura Council Ahmad Hussein Falahi, said in a statement to SANA correspondent in Tehran that holding the presidential elections in Syria is the sovereign right of the Syrian people who have the exclusive right to decide the future of their country.
Falahi added that the US occupation maintains its illegal presence in the Syrian Al-Jazira region to loot the Syrian people’s resources.
“The Americans are thieves and they are partners in the Zionist crimes,” he pointed out, stressing that occupation will inevitably end and the Americans will leave the region and Syria sooner or later.
Former Iranian Ambassador to Jordan Mujtaba Fardousi said that wide participation in voting in the presidential elections in Syria will be a clear response to all those who doubted the legality of these elections and to all attempts that aimed at impeding them.
Fardousi clarified that the United States and its allies are trying to achieve their aggressive schemes in Syria through politics and economy after they failed in achieving them through military action.
He called on the influential regional and international players to respect the political process in Syria and support the option of the Syrian people if they seek stability in Syria.
Secretary General of the “Green Party of Iran” Hossein Kanani Moghaddam said that holding presidential elections in Syria is the result the Syrian people’s steadfastness and resistance against terrorism and aggression.
He pointed out that the western countries that criticize these elections aim at impeding the political process in Syria, stressing that the Syrian people won’t allow this to happen and will practice their right democratically.
On his part, Mahdi Shkeibani, Deputy Secretary General of the Iranian Association for Defending the Palestinian People, said that the Syrians’ active participation in the upcoming presidential elections will be a step to restore stability and security in the country and to start reconstruction and will foil enemies’ attempts to hinder the political process in Syria.
He pointed out that the terrorist war imposed on Syria has served the Zionist entity and the west’s schemes in the region, stressing that Israel’s repeated attacks on Syria resulted from its fear from the capabilities of the Syrian Arab Army.
He made it clear that the US presence in Syria is an attempt by Washington to sever the geographic connection between Tehran, Baghdad, Damascus and Beirut in the service of the Israeli plans.
Editor in Chief of Iran’s Mehr News Agency Mohammad Mahdi Rahimi affirmed that holding presidential elections in Syria is very important for Syria and the region. It confirms the Syrian State’s sovereignty and immunity to foreign pressure, he stressed
On his part, Iranian journalist Daoud Bour Saht said that holding presidential elections in Syria affirms the Syrians’ strong will to decide the future of their country and they are the best response to foreign pressure and terrorism.
Iranian Academic Hassan Asadi said that Syria is still strong with its people, army and institutions despite the military, political and economic wars waged on the country to undermine the state for the benefit of Israel.
