SANA,(ST)- Iranian medical aids were handed over to the ministry of Health on Wednesday through the Iranian embassy in Damascus. The delivered medical aids cover kidney-washing sessions and an integrated set of medical equipment to be put in the service of the Ministry ‘s public hospitals.
In a statement, Deputy Health Minister Dr. Raef Yassin, said that the shipment includes 15 thousand kidney washing sessions and integrated medical sets worthy 30 million Syrian pounds, indicating that the delivered medical sets will contribute to improving medical services provided to citizens in public hospitals, particularly for kidney patients.
He considered that this Iranian initiative and the other preceded humanitarian initiatives are of great importance in supporting the health sector especially , under the unjust sanctions imposed on Syria , targeting various service sectors and claiming the lives of Syrians.
He added that as a result of the suspension of the European Union EU funding of health projects , 32 hospitals supposed to be put into service this year , were not completed
For his part, the Iranian ambassador in Damascus Mohammad Reza Sheibani renewed his country’s position in support of the Syrian people and Iran ‘s ongoing efforts to meet medical supplies of the Syrian public hospitals, under the unjust siege.
