Iranian Foreign Ministry Condemns Labeling of Hezbollah As Terrorist Group

Tehran –   Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi-Ansari condemned labeling of Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement as terrorist group by a group of Arab ministers.

Jaberi-Ansari said that the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement is on the contrary a symbol of resistance against occupation and racism in the region and the world and praised the movement’s fight against Takfiri-terrorist groups in the region, which are backed by some Arab countries.

Hezbollah supported the Palestinian fight against occupying forces of Zionist regime and shaped the first victory of Muslims and Arabs against Israel,‘ the spokesman added.

Referring to certain Arab countries’ officials who lobbied for the anti-Hezbollah statement, he said that those officials who tried to pressure other governments to issue such a statement are working against the interests of Islamic countries.

Jaberi-Ansari meanwhile called the move as consonance with the Zionist regime and unjustifiable.

The Arab Interior Ministers’ Council in its ‘Tunis Declaration’ issued in conclusion of their 33rd session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers on Wednesday in the Tunisian capital accused the Lebanese Hezbollah movement of terrorism.

The action follows Arab monarchies of the ArabGulf move to declare Lebanon’s Hezbollah as a terrorist group.

A Saudi-led bloc of six Arab Gulf had earlier formally branded Hezbollah as a terrorist organization on Wednesday.

The move by the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council comes less than two weeks after the Saudi Arabia announced it was cutting $4 billion in aid to Lebanese security forces.
