Iranian Embassy in Damascus Celebrates Iran’s Islamic Revolution’s 38th Victory Anniversary

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Iranian Embassy in Damascus on Wednesday held a reception ceremony to mark the 38th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran led by late Imam Khomeini.

The ceremony was attended by the Syrian parliament speaker, senior Baath party leadership members, the prime minster, several ministers and Deputy ministers, ambassadors and a number of economic, religious and cultural figures.

Deputy minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal al-Mikdad said in a speech that the Islamic Revolution of Iran has backed the Palestinian people and their struggle to restore their legitimate rights and it supported all the Arab countries that sought preserving their dignity, sovereignty and independence.

 Al-Mikdad added that the revolution has achieved great change at the political level and turned Iran from a state with a government led by a Shah who implemented the orders of Washington and Tel Aviv into a state with a government that staunchly defended the Palestinian cause.

The deputy minister referred to Syria’s historical alliance with the Iranian Revolution, pointing out that President Bashar Al-Assad stresses the importance of enhancing this alliance as being one of the basic means to reach the hoped-for goals.

Iran is a force of good

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is a force of good that serves people’s interest and it has been honest to its commitment to provide necessary support for confronting terrorism, according to al-Mikdad.

He hailed the distinguished and deeply-rooted relations between Syria and Iran, noting that these strong relations were enhanced in all domains during the latest visit by Syria’s Prime Minister Imad Khamis to Tehran.

In a statement to journalists, al-Mikdad said that the efforts being exerted by Iran must receive all support by the United States and other western countries. Syria believes that Iran is a positive party in all the positive changes that took place in the region and it is a state fighting terrorism thus the United States should take this point into consideration, added al-Mikdad.

He went on to say that Syria affirms the need to maintain the agreements signed on Iran’s nuclear program and believes that Washington should not take hasty uncalculated steps on this issue.

The deputy minister reaffirmed that Syria will take part in the meetings dealing with the situation in Syria whether in Astana or Geneva, pointing out that Syria was the first to propose political solution to the crisis.

Syria backs all efforts aiming to stop bloodshed in the country

He clarified that the Syrian government didn’t put any preconditions for intra-Syrian talks and it met terrorist groups in Astana to say that it backs all efforts aiming to stop bloodshed in Syria.

Iran key Player in the region and the world

  Abdul Redha Ghassemian, the Charge d’Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, hailed the Iranian revolution’s achievements at the political, economic, cultural and social levels, pointing out that Iran, today, has become one of the most important countries of the Middle East and the Islamic world and a key player in the region and the world.

He stressed that Iran has called for political solution to the crisis in Syria based on intra-Syrian dialogue, pointing out that Syria’s enemies have spared no political and military effort to destroy the country, because “it forms one of the pillars of resistance in the region”, but they failed thanks to the steadfastness of the Syrian leadership, army and people and the support of Syria’s allies and friends.

He reiterated Ira’s firm support for Syrian in the fight against terrorism and in the reconstruction process.
