Iranian embassy holds reception marking revolution anniversary

The Iranian embassy in Damascus held a reception at the Dama Rose hotel on the occasion of the 41st anniversary for the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

The Iranian ambassador in Damascus Jawad Turk Abadi made a speech in which he affirmed that Iran would continue to support Syria in its war against terrorism and in reconstructing what has been destroyed by terrorism, expressing Iran’s support for Syria’s unity and territorial integrity.

He added that Iran shares in the Syrian people’s victories realized by the Syrian Arab army under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad who has been able to lead Syria to victory over terrorism.

In his speech, Deputy Foreign and Expatriates Minister Dr. Faisal al-Mekdad stressed that Syria is fighting terrorism on behalf of the whole world, noting that Syria is heading from one victory to another and the Syrian Arab army would continue its battle against terrorism until the restoration of security and stability to the whole country.

Dr. al-Mekdad added that the Islamic Revolution of Iran has changed balance not only in the region, but in the whole world, especially with regard to supporting the states struggling for their freedom and dignity, noting that Syria was among the first states that welcomed the victory of the Revolution.

The ceremony was attended by PA speaker Hammoudeh Sabbbagh, Prime Minister Imad Khamis and high ranking state and party officials.
