Damascus- Cooperation agreements between Syria and Iran and mechanisms to activate and develop these agreements were the focus of a meeting held on Tuesday between Syrian officials concerned with economic affairs and an Iranian economic delegation visiting Syria.
The two sides stressed during their meeting at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus the need to develop and activate agreements signed between the two countries and put them into a strategic long-term economic agreement act as a comprehensive framework for all conventions to improve economic relations between the two sides.
The conferees discussed the reality of customs cooperation and the need to speed up the period of customs clearance to facilitate the arrival of goods in a shorter time and reduce the costs in addition to expanding the areas of trade exchange between the two countries to include new types of products to achieve an increase in bilateral exchange rates.
They also discussed the participation in exhibitions organized by the two sides and the establishment of permanent centers for national products in both countries. They also discussed means of boosting investment cooperation and benefiting from the expertise of Iranian companies in reconstruction on the level of infrastructure and industrial plants. The two sides talked about a plan to facilitate transportation between the two countries in addition to topics related to all areas of industrial, agricultural and cultural cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Dr. Mohammed Samer Al-Khalil, Chairman of the Planning and International Cooperation Authority, Dr. Emad Sabouni, Deputy Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Rania Al-Ahmad, Director of the Commercial Bank of Syria and representatives of the Ministries of Public Works, Housing, Transport and Industry in addition to the Iranian guest economic delegation.
